Question:
Diego Sanchez and his marijuana
What's with these guys? (him and Nick Diaz). They both KNOW they are going to get tested for this stuff, among other things, yet do it anyways and get caught, then pay the consequences. It's like the athletes in other sports that know steroids are illegal, yet they do them anyway and get busted. I don't get it....
Anyway.... the story is on sherdog.com
aww poor diego.
Since when is weed a performance enhancing drug? He should be given a handicap for smokin weed, not penalized for it.
Shouldn't be test for weed anyways in the first place.
These guys probably smoked a week before their fights and thought it would be out of their system by then because of all the training, dehydration/rehydration, and their low bfs. I would think so too, but I guess weed stays in your system for a while.
wtf...what the hell does that have to do with fighting? never knew weed gave you super human strength!
stupid things happen all the time and this is no exception. on the plus side having marijuana being viewed as a performance enhancer could be good for the marijuana legalization movement.
Diego and Nick being a stoner makes them more interesting also haha. don't forget folks it's not always the drug but the reaction of the user to the drug. weed can make someone lazy but for Diaz it obviously makes him ahahahah wtf am I saying hahaha! i was stoned once and decided to box with a friend who just came fresh from marine bootcamp, i got owned.....
wtf...what the hell does that have to do with fighting? never knew weed gave you super human strength! hhmmm..... they should have tested Gomi also, maybe he had a hit too many of shabu...wait no that could be a performance enhancer..
I could see Diaz using but not Sanchez, lol. Oh well. Hopefuuly we'll see a rematch b/w them now.

Diego is into Yoga isn't he? well yoga is from the Hindu's who view marijuana as the nectar of the godz, i think it's appropriate no HE SHOULD! smoke to honor his yoga practice and where it came from....
lol did you see what he got punished for it? Like $500 and a three-month suspension which is as long as they wait between fights anyway. It was such a non-issue that most people don't even know he tested positive. I don't really think he cares.

Shouldn't be test for weed anyways in the first place.
It's still illegal...and having illegal substances in your body in a regulated sport is bad. Whether or not they enhance performance. Which they potentially can.

It's still illegal...and having illegal substances in your body in a regulated sport is bad. Whether or not they enhance performance. Which they potentially can. marijuana does not enhance performance. The whole point of drugs not being allowed is that they might enhance performance. Caffeine enhances performance, i don't think they test for that...

marijuana? drug addict? HAVE YOU EVER SUCKED A COCK FOR MARIJUANA??? BOO THIS MAN!!!
this has definetly changed my view of diego. I've never liked him but its good to see elite athletes doing "normal person" activities. Cool. (i'm high right now)

I'm not saying it was a "performance enhancer" at all. I was simply stating that he KNEW they tested for it, so why chance it? Now it tarnishes his image (in some peoples eyes atleast).
BOO THIS MAN!!! someone gets it :D
awesome try go to sparring and see if it improves your performance exactly. it shouldn't be tested for in these situations.
Bullshit. It can, depending on the fighter. It can increase pain threshold, and calmness. slows reflexes and dulls focus...
Now he has the convenience of blaming any future loss for being a pothead.
Now he has the convenience of blaming any future loss for being a pothead. doubt it since he won agains't the almighty Gomi
doubt it since he won agains't the almighty Gomi Actually, I was referring to the Diego "Dirty Sanchez".
Bullshit. It can, depending on the fighter. It can increase pain threshold, and calmness. it makes you uncordinated as well though and effects your concentration.
the negatives far outweigh the positives of marijuana use as far as perfromance enhancing.
the weed they smoke is probably from 2 weeks before the fight.
nobody would be stupid enough to fight high.
an average joe might be able to take GSP if they made GSp smoke a quarter pound before the fight.
