please tell me how Diego Sanchez won this fight?
He didn't do any damage on top, striking was awful, was more ****ed up at the end of the fight. if anything, Nick won it
Edit: ill say this, Diego is damn lucky to even get to 17-0. the alessio fight should have been a loss, the Karo fight should have been a loss, and this fight should have been a loss. the real wins he's had were over Brian Gassaway and Joe Riggs.

I was waiting for something good to happen in the last round, and it seemed like Diego was getting himself some points and BAM... knocks Karo's tooth out. It was frustrating to see him inch out that decision so late in the game. I thought Karo had it in the bag.
I never would have expected him to knock out Riggs either. That was actually an awesome punch. I've gotta give it to him. Like someone already said, he won the fight because Diaz didn't. I'm a huge fan of Diaz, much bigger now than when I first saw that fight, but I still can't give it to him. Diego pushed it and controlled more of the action.
As for Karo, it was really close, but Diego won on cardio. He pushed a lot harder in the third round and stole the win. Also knocking out a tooth really must have weighed heavily on the judges' minds, whether or not it was "real" damage.
So OP are you blind or just really biased? Diego controlled 90% of that fight and did a lot more damage than diaz was doing from the bottom. You think it should have been a draw or Diaz should have won? Give me a break...

we must be watching different fights, i thought diego dominated diaz and it was a close fight between him and karo, but there's still no question diego won. just cause diego doesn't submit or KO the other guy, he loses?

it seems as if Diego pushed the action more and was much more dominant in those fights. Even though he didn't submit him, he did take his back a few times. The takedowns were kind of sloppy, but I can't imagine taking down professional fighters being easy (or always picture perfect). Diaz did a good job defending, however, I would give the edge towards Diego in this fight.

Nick Diaz lost this fight for 2 simple reasons:
1) Diego was more active. Amount of damage and submission attempts aside, Diego simply worked more.
2) Nick loves to work from his back and is one of the best in the world on his back. (gogo, anyone?) Since he's so comfortable there, he doesn't feel the need to work for top position and with judging the way it is, loses on points a lot because he's judged to be in an inferior position even though he has the advantage.
