Anyone very tall? Over or near 6'5"?
Question:

Anyone very tall? Over or near 6'5"?
Hey, new to the board, just started going to the gym a week and a half ago.
I am 6'7", and have quickly discovered that long arms are not your friend when lifting.
Anyone else around my size? I'm trying to get an idea of how big of an impact long arms have on how much someone can lift.

Answer:

only 6'2 and I feel your pain even though at 6'7 you got it much worse. There are plenty of tall basketball players at my gym that seem to bulk easily however. Good luck pal.

Answer:

6.5 and i don't find any agains my hight, maby that i need more weight to look good them man with 5.8

Answer:

I am 6'5" and I don't have any problems. I have been training since the early 80s and it was a little hard at first, just keep at it and your strength will come.

Answer:

Hey mate im just shorter then you 6'5 here and ive been bbing for just over 2 years. ive come a long way and so will you. its important to understand that yes long limbs are a disadvantage when it comes to packing on muscle and 'looking' huge. be persistant and youll grow

Answer:

being tall is cool bc u can deadlift alot better. Not the same for bench tho lol

Answer:

Yeah, I'm 6'8" and basically what everyone else is saying is true you have to be consistent and pack on a lot of weight, I would say you would have to be around 235 before you started 'looking huge' and getting those proportions down, I have long arms and they are about 16.5-17inches around (because I am 235), stick with it.

Answer:

Tall guys at here
1 Attachment(s) My name is Big Don and I'm the webmaster at a tall men's site called www.bigdonsboys.com. Everybody on it is at least 6'1"-6'1", which is my height.
I've met a lot of tall guys on here looking for photos for my site. If you look at my "friends" list there are about eighty of them up to about 6'8"!
Of course there are tons more bodybuilders on my site www.bigdonsboys.com . I'm proud to say Gunther Schlierkamp emailed me just last week to say how much he liked his gallery.

Answer:

It is really tough to look thick when you are tall. However, with good training and diet, you can still put up some impressive weights. I'm 6'3 with a wingspan of 6'5''. I can still push 360 1RM on bench and 460 1RM on squats. Stay with it and you can fill out just fine.

Answer:

6.4 and a half, height sucks in the begining but once you fill out, you will be a monster

Answer:

At 6'5 and 335lbs, I know what you are talking about. I have some weird genes though and you will be thankful when those guys ask for a boost to the chin up bar...

Answer:

6'6" and it will come with time
I to had some difficulty with the whole arm lenth thing I would get tendonitis in my elbows when I did preacher curls or any other curling lift. But over time it wil get better if you eat right, rest appropriately and dont over exert you will find your gains will come and they will come fast. so just keep it up!
Chicks dig big guys!
and they like being called chicks...lol

Answer:

Well Already I'm starting to feel stronger and can notice my arms and shoulders getting alittle bigger.
I've gone up about 5-20 lbs depending on the exercise.
I have a natural talent for lat pull downs, is this common for tall people?

Answer:

Nice, I'm having trouble getting my left arm to keep up with my right though...
for instance, I moved up from 20 to 25lb for bicep curls, I do sets of 8.
with my right arm I can do 4 sets no problem, with my left I literally have to kill my arm to finish all 4 sets.
Other than that and the fact that I can't loose Bodyfat for shit, everythings been going great!

Answer:

for the aches and shit, try glucosamine.

Answer:

now i feel short :P ..
hmm well abviously a taller person would need more time to get full than a normal one and long arms and legs are so hard to fill ..
but its possible .. good luck man

Answer:

I'm not really looking to "get huge"
I just want to be strong, in 3 weeks i'm going to be working out with my buddy in the Marine corps, alot of cardio/core/back, very functional strength.
Any Other tall people have a real hard time doing push ups? Off my feet I can only do 7 in a row...
Same with pull-ups, except I can't even do one yet (I use a counter-balance machine thingy set to support 70lbs).

Answer:

6' 4.5" here and I know what you mean about long arms being a disadvantage.. plus I find it a lot harder to pack on bulk at the moment.. but I'm working on it.. good luck man and stick with it..

Answer:

6' 3.5" - I've been training for 10 years, it's been a looooong and interesting journey so far.
