Question:
can BJJ take on Kimbo Slice street fight?
weve all seen this beast, but for an average size guy a victory over him would be alpha. can a moderatly trained BJJ guy take him on a fight ?

Yes.
Yes. It has and it did.
Him vs Gannon is an example.
You'll need good takedowns, the guy is big and won't be put on his back easily.
But I'd say a good HW wrestler, with at least a purple belt in BJJ would be able to take him under MMA rules.
I don't know, why don't some average sized "moderately trained" BJJ guy go find out?
Make sure you got some good medical insurance though. ;)
Good luck.
EDIT: That Gannon fight was lost out of exhaustion...Kimbo has never been in good shape.
someone trained in pure bjj wouldnt be able to handle him, but an actual mma trained person yes
A good wrestler of comparable size could take him.
Note he has lost to an mma guy before like if its not boxing he doesnt really know what to do. Many other mma guys called him out in a street fight probably under there rules which is in my opinion a lot more of a street fight than just boxing which is why Kimbo hasnt accepted. Although i would like to see who wins Kimbo or Mercer if i had to bet Mercer but Mercer is also gettin up there in age

no.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!
no.
So you don't believe a collegiate HW Wrestler with a purple belt in BJJ could take Kimbo in an MMA match? I think there is a very good chance, maybe even a probability that they would.
Note: I am basing this off the Kimbo we have seen on his street fight tapes, I have no idea what his MMA training has been for the Mercer fight.
I dont understand how u guys think that kimbo is such a great fighter. A BJJ master I think could take him. Any of u seen pedro sauer vs. Mr utah (250lbs). Sauer won with an armbar, and was still even beating him in stand up. Kimbo is just some jacked guy with SOME boxing expirience, and now mma training for Ray mercer which id like to add is going to murder kimbo on the 23rd.
Don't you guys know that nine times out of ten that a grappler will beat a striker in a no rules fight? Its just not plausible to believe that a striker will land that big KO shot before the grappler can clinch up and take him down....Sure, it can and has happened, but to EXPECT that to happen every time???? C'mon now...

He did lose to a MMA guy although the fight was majority stand up, it obviously took place at some area where training is conducted because I saw heavy bags and what not in the background.

Of course, it also depends on what you call a "striker," or a "grappler." I could be called a "striker," I've never trained BJJ, but I've got some wrestling experience. I've got 3 years of Muay Thai training, but I made up for my lack of ground game by improving my takedown defense and countering...of course, if I want to compete I will improve my ground game....but I would ALWAYS try to keep the fight standing up, it's just my style.

for a normal guy with moderate BJJ it would be very hard now considering he's been training mma a lot recently.
Big guys aren't as hard to take down as many people suppose. Their footwork and balance are often attrocious, making it easier for a quicker opponent to gain the leverage position. I see a lot of shorter opponents getting the back of some big guy, then tripping him to the ground with ease. Of course, all that is negated if the bigger man is skilled in grappling and takedown defense - which Kimbo is not.
So yeah, I could see some second rate BJJ guy taking Kimmy down and ripping his arm off.
Yes. It has and it did.
Him vs Gannon is an example.
Gannon didn't use any BJJ on him...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YslvU...elated&search= Yes, it can be done. Someone with moderate to decent ground skills can put him on his back and keep him there. Once he is on his back by someone using the proper technique, the size difference won't matter. Getting someone to the ground and keeping them there is about two things, leverage and physics.

Good post
some of u are acting stupid. if the guy took him to the ground it would be over for kimbo. the guy could choke him out, gnp, etc. Kimbo would be scared on the ground, and unsure of what to do. He's not a streetfighter, hes a bareknuckle street boxer.. whatever u wanna call it. Gannon would of wasted him in no time at all if mma rules were aloud in their fight. Pointing he lost to gannon cus of exhaustion doesnt matter here, in mma rules, or like a real street fight, gannon woulda taken him out easy. I guess the whole subject comes from moderate bjj though, maybe not. But a good trained bjj 200 or more lbs. should be able to take him out easy. Not like he would do anything right to defend the takedown.
