How strong can I get with chin-ups?

How strong can I get with chin-ups?
I know that lower reps are the best way to build strength, but I want to build strength and endurance in the same workout. If I can make it from 20 to about 40 / 45 chin-ups, about how much will my strength increase?

40 dead hangs would be pretty good. I can get about 25, and it took me a few months to get there, so I thought that was good... ha.

In terms of strength, once your able to do about 40 you stop pulling yourself up and start pulling the world down. so use your power responsibly. ;)

but ya if you can do even 20 perfect form pull ups with out doing that worm shit to get up then your strong.
and its a good indicator for grip strength too most people with weak forarms and grip there arms give out after like 8 pull ups.
rope pull ups, and rings, and towel pull ups are also good alternatives once you got the chin ups and pull ups down.

i do 20, then 15, then 12, then 10, every time after a run before push ups and conditioning sit ups. great conditioning

And it's funny to see how the local "know it all" is psychic and knows who can do what, and what other's are capable of accomplishing...
Man, when I was in highschool I ripped out 26 pull-ups (proper form) with out an issue....I was skinny as a freakn rail...now, I probably can do about 10-12 tops...
and crap, he's wearing all black in his avatar and all you can see his part of his forearms and his face....how the heck can you make ANY kind of judgment of what he can or can't do.

Is proper form not letting your feet/knees go in front of you? Must you go slow on the eccentric (downward) portion of the pullup? Because I go as fast as I can on both the eccentric and concentric.

@ OP: of course, you'd be alot stronger; hard to tell you the exact ammount of strength you'd gain but it would be noticable.
