Question:
Has anyone else been keeping up with the very disturbing issues on cruise ships lately?
People dying of mysterious diseases, being killed on board, women being raped, and people going missing.
The latest is that off the coast of Florida, a Princess Cruise ship nearly toppled completely over for no reason other than a problem with the steering. One man said he came face to face with the water before the ship righted itself.
I was considering a cruise, perhaps, for our next vacay, now I think not.
I always wondered how conflicts were resolved with the ships being in International water, and all. Now we are beginning to learn that laws just don't apply out there. That scares me.
We went on the Princess Cruise Ship 2 years ago had a great time. Next year we're heading to Alaska. I never went any where on board ship by myself stayed with my group if I planned on drinking. Like anywhere else you have to be careful.
I'm sorry for all the things that's happening to people on cruises.

I have never been on a cruise but would love too. I would definately not go around by myself either.
A cruise is the way to go. Totally pampered, food 24/7, room service, entertainment, gambling, pools hot tubs, exercise rooms, golf fun fun fun. I walked everywhere cause of all the food I ate.

No way would you get me in anything that goes in water. I would freak. I even hate driving over bridges with deep water under them
I have been cruising regularly for 20 years since I was a teen.
My main suggestion to avoid the events in recent years with drugs, rape and murders is to avoid the cheap ships that do the quick 1 week holidays out to the Pacific back. These ones basically attract the 17-25 year old crowd whose sole intention is to get totally smashed each night and that then attracts the predators.
The Alaskan and Antarctica cruises tend to attract an older crowd so you dont have a boat load of drunken nuisences. Same with a lot of the classic European cruises.
The Superstar line that cruise mostly around Asia and Australia are BAD. They attract a mix of young and drunk plus really old and sleazy. They would have to be the yuckiest cruise line I have ever experienced.
As for the recent one where the ship toppled this week - its a fairly rare occurance. I have been on two cruises that lost their stabilisers mid cruise and while it was rocky - they didnt come close to toppling - and one sailed thru a typhoon.
Personally I am the kind of person who feels a little let down when my plane lands after a smooth flight. I love it when interesting things happen on my holiday - whether it be storms and rough turbulance on a flight, or sailing through a typhoon during a cruise. I love it when nature makes my holiday exciting.
Caroline dont feel like you shouldnt try out a cruise just because of a few worldwide events. If we all thought that way we would never get in a car, train, ship or plane again !!!!

I've always loved the thought of a cruise though, I love the wide open ocean, its amazing to me anyways, how something so beautiful and calm can be so dangerous the next. I think a cruise would have to be my dream holiday
I went on a houseboat when I was hmmm 11, and it was pretty cool, I had so much fun, I was also the only kid with a bunch of adults which was cool too We didnt go too far into deep oceans though, it went out of Rainbow Beach and I think we had to stay pretty close, we were there for a week. Anyways, this one had 2 engines one on each side at the back and one just like failed/stopped working at one point and OMG the boat go so rocky, it was cool, plates and cups and stuff fell off the benches, was very fun LOL but someone came and fixed it But I know thats nowhere near anything like a cruise ship but meh I wanted to add it
When we went on our cruise, there was more people on board then lives in our village. It's like a small city.
