Brain Fog! Am I Going Crazy?
Question:

Hi All,
I am hoping some of you out there may have heard of such a thing. I have been feeling like this for ages now like I can't concentrate on anything, my memory is shot, irritable, jumpy, no energy, I get between 8 - 10 hours sleep most nights. I have been to see my doctor and she just looked at me like I am insane. If it keeps happening I will have to get a second opinion from another doc I reckon. I have had my eyes tested not so long ago so I figure it isn't that.
Has anybody else out there felt like this? Is this the new normal? My mum in all her wisdom told me to turn the demister on in my brain and clear the fog.nice one hey LOL.

Answer:

sounds a bit like you may need to change your doctor AngelaE
you sound to me like i did years ago i still do lol mine was diagnosed as depression most of us do go through this in our lives (not just women either) it's just that women talk more openly (thank god) .
what made you get your eye's checked? do you have a partner children?
Honestly, you need to get to another Dr maybe your mum did'nt understand how concerned you are about your feelings, just let her know that you really are concerned about how you are feeling, if she's not helpfull, chat to a friend but don't just let it go by . good luck with it all

Answer:

I don't think you are going crazy at all!
I agree with Di in that I would be seeking out another doctor. Your current one sounds like a quack IMHO. Can't believe she just sat there looking at you as if you were insane.
Depression can do some really strange things to the brain and feeling foggy, lack of concentration, lethargic and tired are all symptoms. I do know, because I suffer with it.
Try some meditations to help. I don't like the drugs, especially the anti-depressants they prescribe, I much prefer natural alternatives.

Answer:

Jen i just have to say (my opinion only) i have been on anti-depressants for 8 years now they are not addictive (the ones i'm on) i just know that i would never have coped without them i don't care if i am on them for the rest of my life i could'nt get out of bed for months before i went on them .
but hey as i said that my opinion everyone is different

Answer:

I would definitely be seeing another doc doesnt that give you the shits when they look at you like you have two heads?
I can always tell as soon as I sit in Docs surgery and they start talking that this one is ok or this is going to be a waste of time.
Angela do you suffer from migraines?
Jen

That's ok, Di. I'm not advising AngelaE to not try them, if that's what she needs, but just informing her that there are other alternatives.
I know people who are on anti-depressants and swear by them, and then I know people, myself included, who have had adverse reactions to them. I just prefer to try and cope with more natural alternatives.
I'm even looking at different ways to try and manage my blood pressure and cholesterol without drugs. I absolutely hate the fact that I have to take these medications every single day for the rest of my life.

Answer:

god thats me !! my head feels like there is cottong wall in there. I cant even remember simple things, and the exhaustion OMG it kills me!

Answer:

I have a girlfriend who swears by Ginko Biloba, a natural herbal supplement. She started taking it after her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers.
I have just Googled it and it sounds like a wonder drug.among other benefits, it is claimed to enhance memory, alleviate mental fatigue, increase energy, relieve tension and elevate moods.
I think on Monday I might pop down to the herby shop (what are they called Ladies?) and get some.
I can also advise St. Johns Worte if you think most of your problems may be depression based.it certainly worked for me in the past.
Good Luck.and any Doctor who treats their clients that way should be avoided.

I dont have depression so i can only advise that you seek a 2nd opinion, even if it is just to ease your mind.
Be careful with St. Johns wart as it can be really dangerous esp. if taken with other things (medications, other herbs etc) so check what it interacts with first if you are going to take it.
i have a book of medications etc. so if you want a little more info on it PM me or add to the thread

Answer:

I really think at the end of the day you need to get back to the Dr if that Dr does'nt take you seriously on your next visit either tell her/him that you are serious you feel concerned about your health you would like some help or go straight to another Dr the sooner you do that the sooner you will start to feel on top of things
