Question:
so, i figured i would post a new thread even though i mentioned my fiancee's site in a different one.
last christmas was the first christmas the kids have actually been home and with my fiancee for a few years. the last time they spent christmas here was probably when they were 3 or 4. he went all out! the house looked great! after christmas, he found out about a website where you can get this channel control thing and hook up tons of lights on your house. he bought it and that's his number one hobby and basically the reason he spends countless hours on the computer.and then again i have my AFW! so you put all these lights up on your house, build some things, and syncrinize (sp) the lights to christmas songs. it's pretty neat. i helped him with a few things, but most of the time he does it when i'm at school or work.to pass the time. i'm happy that he has a hobby, his first one ever! yet, i did get him into reading too! haha. it's alot of fun and very family oriented. if you'd like, check out the website. it's . i hope you all enjoy it and definitely give me feedback and let me know what you think. some houses are absolutely crazy with this stuff and i can't wait until we start putting the lights up the day after halloween. by november, all the lights and decorations should be up and the day after thanksgiving we're having everyone come by for the first night of lights and syncrinizing. no one in town has it and i know my street will be pretty chaotic! hopefully it won't be too bad and people will respect the fact that they can't hold up traffic and drive slow past the house, otherwise the cops may have a problem with it! it's a little longer than a half hour show. we're also going to go out and hand out candy canes, along with maybe having a box for donations and buying gifts for cancer kids in the hospital that are missing out on christmas at home.or for kids with no homes. we'll see. i would definitely recommend it and i'm sure for husbands that don't work, this is a great thing for them to look into! it takes alot of time, yet it's fun and you feel accomplished when you're done with a project that will be out on display. hope you all enjoy!
wow your per planning arent you ? Its only april and your talking about christmas. its ages away. not that I am saying that there is anything wrong with pre planning and the things you are planning to do sound great. I hope it all works out for you.
I've seen that around here and it's really neat. But beware of the electric bill it could get way up there. Where about in New Jersey do you live? My sister lived in Sparks for a while, but then moved to Texas a couple of years ago.
yeah, when you do this whole christmas thing, it takes a LOT of planning! i actually have to help my fiancee make something a little later. it's fun for us and it'll also be fun for everyone around the area that is interested in seeing it.
supposedly the bill will be less money. i don't really understand why, since the lights will be on for awhile! but my fiancee told me that, so i'm not worried. i guess the lights won't be taking up to much power or something and i think it has to do with the channels that he bought.
i live in bergen county.just 20 minutes from new york city! where is sparks btw?! i never heard of it. that's a pretty BIG move! i can't see myself moving far from jersey. i definitely want to get out of this town and move to either north or west jersey.more like a farmland where the houses are less expensive.or upstate new york or pennsylvania. we have a few years still ahead for us to save and look around. everything around here is just way too expensive!
You probably never heard of it because I made a boo, boo, it's Sparta and I have no idea where it is. All I know is it is in New Jersey. I know, a lot of help I am. I never had a chance to go see her. She did say it was out in the boons. I have to laugh because I'm being so helpful.
haha, yeah, that's about 45 minutes from me. my fiancee said that it is out in the boons, haha. if you have family here and will be in the area around christmas, make sure you come out and take a look at the house!
loved it all Kiki, a lot of work to we have a lot of homes here that go to so much trouble but ofcourse it's all so good to look at
i'm glad you liked it. at first i thought it was pointless, but it's fun to create new things and come up with all these ideas for it. it also gives the kids a chance to be hands on with their dad and i help out with it once in awhile also. it definitely is trouble.money wise! lol. i can't even explain how much was spent on christmas lights and all, even though my fiancee got most of it on clearance, sales, or discounts.
Do you realise what you have done Miss K.you are getting Di all fired up for Xmas and it's only April she will be totally out of control by December
Of course you are right.those that go all out for the Xmas light shows that bring such pleasure usually start their planning possibly on the 2nd of January each year.
We have a couple of streets only a short distance away (by car) that the residents have been decorating for as long as the TT is old (even longer) and each year the police cordon off the area to traffic and do foot patrols.they enjoy themselves as much as the sightseers.
Sounds great Kiki
I love driving around at Chrostmas and seeing all the wonderful displays
I hope it all comes together eactly as you plan
