Question:
I will never forget the day. People always said my generation didn't have a moment like that.people always remember where they were when Pearl Harbor got attacked or when President Kennedy was shot or when man first stepped on the moon. Sadly, we have ours now.
I was in college in Tallahassee, FL (the capital and home of their governor, President Bush's brother). I was walking to class when the first plane hit. I got to class and the professor ran in and turned on the big projector TV and we immediately saw the second plane hit. It took us all a while to figure out what was going on. We just all sat in awe through the class and into the next just watching the TV.
Needless to say, classes were cancelled that day and the next as there was fear that they would strike Tallahassee b/c pres bush was in florida. I went home and started calling my family. My father was supposed to be flying from Chicago to Miami that day. It was really scary till we realized that he had gotten an early red-eye that day and when we knew more details and where the planes were coming from.
You couldn't get through phone lines to friends and family. We all just sat in the sorority house all day watching the TV and crying. I am getting tears in my eyes just thinking about it now. Watching all of the people so scared and seeing people throwing themselves out of windows hundreds of stories high. I will never forget it and who knew that day the repurcussions of that day and the actions that would follow. Its a different world now.
The whole thing was worse than a horror movie.
It didn't look real and was so incomprehensible, and like most I was crying.
My friend just travelled over seas for a few years and she dated a fire man who worked on it and he was it was just horrific, he'll never ever forget or experience something like that again
I was on my way to the airport that night to pick my sister up from a flight from London, so I heard it on the radio and then went into Sydney airport to get her, she was lucky as her flight had landed but there was so much security going on.she didn't hear anything about it till she got to customs and then more security. We went into the city and sat at a bar and just watched it all unfold before us.it was a long and memorable night, I was so glad that she was home safe and sound.
There was a documentary about people falling from the Twin Towers on the ABC last year called 9/11 Falling Man, and about one man falling and trying to find his identity, photographed in his last seconds of life as he tumbled from the north tower, it is one piece of tv watching that I will never forget as long as I will live.
I was sleeping. I had left the radio on and was sort of awake or dreaming.and I kept hearing. We are being bombed. this is not a joke. I woke up and turned on the news and saw the second plane crash.
My friend at the time had spent the night and we were just watching the news. We could not believe it was real. He made a joke. that if we are about to die,, we should uhmm. one more time. i told him he better go home. this was serious. people kelt calling me to check on me because I live 5 minutes from LAX, and that is where 2 of the planes were headed.
My grandma who had dementia came and asked me if the planes were really crashing into the building.
I explained to her what was happening. It was very sad. She has seen a lot in her lifetime. I wish she hadnt seen this in her final days.
I was playing with the children in my child care. TV is on Fox News when it happened. I gave the children toys to play with in another room so they wouldn't be able to see what was happening. I cried, than called my son my parents. The VFW held a special service that week.

This post reminds me that I always remember what I was doing when John Kennedy was assassinated and Princess Dianna was killed.
I am too young to remember Kennedy, but I remember Princess Diana, too. She passed away on my birthday.
I was in central London working in a childcare centre. Found out at the end of the day.Looking back I'm surprised we werent sent home as all other schools were evacuated out of the area the time
