Question:
15 year anniversary today
So my wife said the other day we wouldn't buy each other anything but I did anyways. My darling 3 year old told her, as she often recaps the days events, that we bought mommy some earrings today. So I gave her the earrings and pendant last night. She keeps making comments about how surprised she is and appreciates it a lot but we had agreed not to get each other anything and just go out together. She says she feels bad now that she didn't get me anything. Ladies, did I make a mistake? Or should I expect she will be making a stop on the way home today?
I know Im not over 35 or anything but when girls my age have some sort of engagement that involves me ie. birthday, holidays, some sort of anniversery, and we agree not to get anything I always do anyways. I feel that its my money and its their reward for putting up with me lol. Just tell her its a reward for putting up with you for 15 years and not so much a gift. more like a prize.
Thats what I do
No, you didn't make a mistake!
We Gals LOVE a Surprise!
...At least I know I always do!
I'm sure she's thinking: "That's what makes being married to you so special!"
You are a wonderful husband.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Thanks Tuffgirl. I figure it makes us even for all the trips she has let me make lately to see friends all over Florida.
I've lived long enough to know that when a woman says she doesn't want anything, you'd better be prepared for a hard time if you believe her.
happy anniversary!!!
you didn't make a mistake...........15 years is a huge deal and should be celebrated in some way. present is a loose word...i don't know what your wife is like, but if i were you i'd at least count on a VERY fun night. ;)

You did exactly what I would do, and my wife still calls me Mr. Wonderful after 12+ years :)
I think it is the right thing - I always try to get her something for events like anniversaries, even if I said I wouldn't. My gift from her is simple - her still being crazy enough to stick with me :D

If I was in your wife's position and you didn't get me at least a little something as a surprise, I would be absolutely gutted :D :D
You did the right thing. She probably does feel a tad guilty but what's happened here is mother nature at her finest. She said she didn't want anything but you anticipated that she really did - correct, this is how women work. You said you didn't want anything and you really meant it. She got you nothing because she knew you really meant you wanted nothing and there's no hidden agenda with guys in such situations.
Oh, happy anniversary by the way !! :)
Thanks for your replies.
That is what I talking about, hopefully she won't tear a quad though, ;) LMAO! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! To you and your wife!
Happy Anniversary. I am not married, but I think you did a noble thing. Giving her something is the best way to break a promise. Like Ms. Someday said, she may re-pay you with a little somethin-somethin :P (worth whatever you paid for the gifts)
yeah, you don't have to buy some of the better things in life :)

But, but, but.... sorry

We are in a similar situation. My 14th anniversary is this July 31, and I have a 4 and a 2 year old daughters.

That is what I talking about, hopefully she won't tear a quad though, ;) hahahahaha. Happy 15th, far.
