One of the best strongmen ever who also did some body-building. Not something you can see very often.
'What is the point in life if you can not do the deadlift?'
RIP John Pall...one of the greats...his showmanship made WSM all the more entertaining...
BUMP for the greatest sportsman in this business, EVER!!!

awesome
Not only was he one of the strongest ever, but he had a very good physique, which is rarely seen in a strongman.
Extremely strong, fast, with a great physique and a smile to go with it... what a representative of mankind!
Died while performing a deadlift, at a young age of 33.

Died while performing a deadlift, at a young age of 33. How does one die of a deadlift?
How does one die of a deadlift? Read again..."performing"....he had a hereditary heart abnormality...as I remember
Read again..."performing"....he had a hereditary heart abnormality...as I remember yea he had a genetic heart disease and the sport sped up the process. he was such an intense character, too bad he died so young.
it's odd to see him talking so calmly and softly during an interview, but when he competes his intensity and charisma shoots through the roof like no other.

That is a seriously alpha way to die. QFT.
"There is no reason to be alive if you cant do the deadlift." - Jon Pall Sigmarsson He said this while performing a 1150 pound deadlift at a strongman competition.
I saw it in a video on youtube. Don't know which one, it was a strongman compilation of some kind.
He was lifting it, and just prior to locking up while holding his breath went 'there's no point in life if you can not do the deadlift.'

He was lifting it, and just prior to locking up while holding his breath went 'there's no point in life if you can not do the deadlift.' It was in the all time strongest man comp between Jon Pall, Geoff Capes and Bill Kazmier. Jon Pall won all events except 1 or 2 ;) When planning the events he let Capes and Kazmier choose what events they would compete in, said it didnt matter to him!
One of the best strongman ever!RIP
Andy bolton has the world record deadlift of 455kgs - I know the deadlifts in this video were performed in a strongman competition - but how can they lift so much more than the current record. Are they under different rules?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2j8ljGO-aA Alot of the time they let them wear straps and the bar is usually off the ground farther than what you would see in a PL competition, so they're not pulling as far.
Thanks :D

All videos of that event have been removed from youtube due to Viacom copyright issues - I cant find any on the web, I would be interested in seeing it though.
