Strongman event replacements
Question:

Strongman event replacements
Is there anything I can use to replace the things used in the strongman comps such as atlas stone events and log press?

Answer:

Buy/ make some stone molds, kegs shouldn't be a problem, you can buy or build farmer's walk handles, sleds are easy to buy or improvise, cars are easy to push and pull, log press can be bought but form money or built, there are plenty of plans online.

Answer:

Well I dont have the money to do those and The only vehicles we have is like a 6000lb Ford SUV and a 5000lb truck..and we live at the top of a hill.
Could I use some dumbells for farmers walk?I'm sure I can set up something like a dog cage with plates in it and a heavy chain for sleds.any Idea for Log press and Kegs?Could I put plates in a strong bag or use heavy objects for the stones?

Answer:

You can use heavy dumbells for farmer's walks but it isn't exactly the same.
You can usually buy empty kegs cheap from beer distributors. Or just have a party and forefit your deposit on a full keg.
Sleds can be anything. A big piece of plywood with a chain through it with rocks on top... or a snow sled with bags of concrete piled on top, a tire with plates on top, etc etc.
A 5-6000 car isn't heavy. I only squat in the mid 300's and push a 5-6000 pound suv EASY. And even if it is too much I'm sure you have a friend or relative with a sedan or something... you live on a hill you say? Its a car dude... that literally couldn't be less of a deterrent!!!
Putting weight in a bag also very common, but it won't give you training specific enough to excel in stone events. Google "homemade atlas stones", or something of that nature. There are plenty of plans out there and even molds for relatively cheap. Same with the logs.

Answer:

theres a website that has instructions to make homemade strongmen gear, I'll try to find it, or use the ideas Kiknskreem has above^^^^

Answer:

You also have to consider my age on the vehicles though.

the OP is only 136lbs... so 5000lbs SUV should be a workout (as long as you push it for 50-200 feet)....
hit up an army surplus store and buy a large duffel bag... fill with sand/rocks
look through a lot of the posts in this forum as the links to the DIY (do-it-yourself) strongman site was posted before (i think the guy is in the UK or FInland) as I remember seeing the thread...
keep your motivationup... I wish I had the motivation when i weighed 136... (i was 13) and the knowledge to act properly... lol..

Answer:

To kind of replace atlas stones I can do the same motion with a tiire with the rim still on it but it wont be very heavy.I got a wooden crate thing with a locking mechanism where I will put a conecter that connects the chain and the box and I will load wieght in it.Farmers walk will be replaced with Regular dumbell farmer walk for now. What distances should I do these with the farmers walk and sled pulls?I will do both walking pulls and seated row type pulls. My chain is onyl 13 feet long.

Answer:

Answer:

and pretty much I now want to maybe compete in strongman in the future but I will try to get a coach in a coupel of years.

Answer:

The duffel is a good idea.
I wrapped 70# sand bags (used for traction in winter) with duct tape. You can also fill feed bags.
You can make a sled out of an old spare tire a 2' X 2' piece of plywood and $2 of chain.
Most farmers are glad to have someone strange enough to take big rocks off their hands (ask first)
Old flywheels, engine blocks, farm machinery can work too. It all depends on where you live and what you have access to.
