Question:
Girls what are you max dumbell curls (for how many sets/reps)?
I am very new here and this is my first forum post. I am Kaitlyn from the UK and have been lifting weights since around November last year. I powerlifted for years when i was at school but stopped lifting soon after leaving. When i did this i felt wretched and knew i had to get back into it someday!
Now im back in the swing of things, lifting and i figured i would start my first forum post today by asking girls/ladies, what is your maximum dumbell curl and how many sets/reps can you do? How old are ya?
It would be love to gauge where other women are at with their training :)
I look forward to reading your replies

UK I usually warm-up with 15's, throw in some 20's. Max would be 23-25 for 2-3 reps. Most i've ever maxed on dumbells was 35 when I was in college.
Im sorry, how rude of me not to let you know what i can do
I am 20 yrs old and am quite strong in the arms and can curl 30lbs for 8 reps and curl a 60lb barbell 4 times. Im still strong from my p/lifting days :)

Kait Impressive.
I have no idea what my max would be. I work biceps towards the end of my workout so they've alerady gotten a little work. I do 2-3 sets for 10 reps at 30lbs.
I too do biceps towards the end of my workout but do around 3 sets of 8 at 12.5kg (26lb)
I don't really lift for max, but about 30lbs. 8 times concentration.
wow i am weak!! i can only do 3 x 12 at 9kg :(
I have never really picked anything up to see what my max would be. Right now I am lifting 20lbs 10 reps 3 sets. I feel comfortable after doing it. I know I need to move up in weight.

UK Surprisingly, I'm able to curl a 60 lb barbell, and 20 lb dumbell for 8 reps. This is an increase from a 45-50 lb(barbell), and 10-15 lb(dumbell) at 8 reps, within the last 3 weeks that I've been practicing form using only one set. I'm not sure why I can lift a 60 lb dumbell, when the max with each arm alone is only 20 lbs. I better double check the weight of the bar. I'm assuming it's 20 lbs. Oh well. I start training on Monday. I have a feeling my strength is going to increase slowly from this point, but who knows. :)

Kait Those are impressive numbers, and that 300 lb squat is amazing!! I struggled to squat MUCH less. lol
I tend to tag the bicep work on teh end of my back workout, so they've already been hit fairly hard... Getting back to my pre-op strength slowly but surely....
DB curl - pyramid to 15kg (33lbs)
BB curl - sets of 8-10 at 30kg (66lbs)... I like using the Olympic bar for these.
Hope that's what you were after..
Ladies I began training with sets yesterday, and I have a whole new appreciation for those of you who lift heavy poundage for 3 sets or more. Being the newbie that I was, I failed to realize, that being able to lift maximum poundage for one set of a few reps, does NOT determine, what you can manage with "lighter" weights, using good form doing multiple sets. When training correctly...10, 15, and 20 lbs dumbells really do get the job done. :)
At the end of my workout I'll do 26lbs dumbell curls 9/9/9, or 22lbs for 5 (or so) sets of 10.
I do my 1st set with 35's for 6, then I do 3 more sets of 10 with 30's working up to do 45's thats my goal for now.
Don't know my max, but right now I'll do dumbbell curls 3 sets of 10 @ 20lbs and straight bar curls for 8 @ 40 and 8 @ 50. That usually hits them pretty good.
I dunno what my max is, but I am finally up to 20 lbs, 3x8 and then I'll do 25 for the same at the curl "machine". I wanna push to move up, but I don't wanna leave my poor lil triceps behind. The lil gals are finally gettin some meat on them! lol
Well I usually do 3 sets of 6-7 w/ the 35's. Yesterday I threw up the 40's for 3 then wore my bicep out with the 30's then right down to the 15's
Whew I feel it today.
Good job ladies ,these are good numbers I'm seeing.
