Question:
Overtraining Maybe?
Hi girls
I thought I'd post here and get you ladies to give me your opinion or share your personal experiences.
I have been trying to try some new things and changed my work out. I am doing more reps less weight to switch it up from heavy to low reps. working out 6 days a week with 4 of those days being weight training but its a split and I do cardio for 45 min on two of my non training days and on training days i only do 20 min before weight training.
legs
chest / tri
back / bi's
shoulder/traps
cardio

I am not sure if this is what has me feeling this way or what? How do you know if you are overtraining?
I have felt very very tired. Yes It doesnt help that I don't sleep but 6-7 hours but that is all the time i have at times.
I feel like i am tired, fatigued and unmotivated. Sometimes before i even get to the gym my heart rate is so elevated. I mean, I'll check my heart rate monitor and end up having to just walk on the treadmill because my heart is already at 140 by just doing some walking. Even depressive. I am hoping it goes away soon because I am now in this mood that i dont want to even work out.
I want to just eat and sleep. Craving non-clean foods. May I need a break?
How often if any time do people take breaks?
I think the four day weight split is great, if you're doing an upper/lower split. You want to hit every muscle twice a week. Cardio on two days is great, but I think more than that is whats making you tired. That is a lot of cardio. Glad you're taking one day off.
As far as higher reps lower weights...I'd do one session of upper body using the high rep/low weights and then the next upper body session that week do a low rep/high weight workout. Same thing for lower body workout.
Are you eating enough?? That can make you way tired too.
Hope this helps.
My calories are good, 1800-1900 160 protein, 120 carbs...55 gram fat
My calories are good, 1800-1900 160 protein, 120 carbs...55 gram fat I'm no expert, but I'm thinking you're tired because you're not taking in enough carbs for energy. People handle different macro ratios differently...so maybe try upping carbs to like 140-150 and lowering the fat intake.

Yep I have to agree....I would lower the fat to around 35 and up the carbs 150-160.
I thought I need at least .5 times body weight grams of fat to burn fat...or am i wrong...
when's the last time you had several days of complete rest? it definitely sounds like you're showing sympathetic signs of overtraining: elevated resting heart rate, lack of motivation, etc. Do you notice yourself getting sick more often, decreased appetite, decreased performance, or elevated blood pressure?

Hi,
well i took a few days off from training already this week and upped my calories...maybe not the right approach but I have to say I feel 70% better than a week ago. I went back to the gym yesterday and had a great work out, just did 30 min cardio and shoulders and I was feeling strong and not fatigued or tired.
I am going to chage my work out to heavy again, I dont know that this whole light weight more reps is working. I wanted to try it just so I can get down form and make sure I can keep it when i go back to heavy, but my pictures look worst. absolutely worst...my leg fat looks like is on top now...all over
Me too
I do a similar 4 day + cardio deal and am doing OK with it now, but I find if I don't take a complete rest every 12 weeks I hate training and feel week and crappy. OK maybe I sneak in a yoga session here or there, but otherwise complete rest and maintenance cals.
After a 1-2 week break I come back lifting stronger and running further, plus it's something to look forward to. Only 4 weeks to go....

How often if any time do people take breaks? in terms of cardio, you're not doing yourself any favours by doing it before weights. For weight training you need your glycogen stores as this enables muscle contractions. In doing cardio beforehand you're severely depleting your stores, putting you in an already catabolic state before you even begin your weight lifting. Switch your cardio to AFTER your lifting so you can maximise your weight training.
