Question:
Are squats enough for legs??
Ive been doing 8x8 bb parallel squats for my legs..and i lower the weight after the 5th or 6th set sometimes...after squatting..i cant climb up the stairs normally for arnd 3 days...i literally hold the railing n pull myself up..does that mean im hitting my legs hard enough with squats?
How long have you been squatting for? When I first began to squat, I also found that walking up half a flight of stairs after the workout was almost a workout in itself!!
It will be alright for your quads. But your still not going to hit your calves. And your hamstrings don't get worked as hard as your quads.
should probably do some ham glute raises or SLDL's to fix imbalances you might have with your quads, glutes, and hams. Ham glute raises will also help increse your squat too. That is too much squatting I think. Do 5 or 6 sets and add 4-5 sets of SLDL of glute ham Raise. Also add other assistance excercises if you wish. How much you squatting BTW? Do you warm up?

You should increase the weight per workout. 40Lbs seems way too low regardless of your body type
How do you squat 40, the olympic bar is 45...
How do you squat 40, the olympic bar is 45... so?
there are smaller bars available also
Start at a weight that you feel is right for you man, don't worry about it. The most important part is that you're increasing that weight at a constant rate. That'll keep your quads growing.
Work on adding some weight to the bar every squat session, you may need to drop the volume of your squats to do this (8x8 seems excessive).
Try 3x8 or 5x5 next squat session, afterwards to hit your hamstrings more try some lunges (long stride) and calf work if you want to.
so?
there are smaller bars available also Oh I didn't realise that, our gym only has olympic bars.
I assume he means 40lbs as well as the bar.
I assume he means 40lbs as well as the bar. x2
Probably, and at 130lbs at 6'1, I can see that being necessary.
Good sir, I say to you this -- EAT EAT EAT, and do some deadlifts, stiff-leg deadlifts, and some calf raises.

Not, I think, a realistic exercise for a beginner.
Yea its probably because ive only been squatting for arnd 3-4 wks
Im a noob so i squat 40lbs. No, i dont warmup. there is no way you actually squat 40 pounds unless your form is terrible you should naturally without working out at all be able to squat 135x8 especially if you "bench 264 pounds"
there is no way you actually squat 40 pounds unless your form is terrible you should naturally without working out at all be able to squat 135x8 especially if you "bench 264 pounds" hahhahahahha, Then bench is an E-stat for sure

I doubt everyone naturally squats over their bodyweight for 8 reps.

You might wanna try front squats and leg ext. Both help leg strength. Also try going past parallel, it works more.
i do deadlifts and front squats for my leg work
You'll be fine in the beginning. It will take care of quads and your posterior chain. You will always have to work calves separately.
That said, squats are not one of the better quad exercises for body-building, and you will need to work with other quad exercises in time.
Squats work calves aswell but not as much as you might want
if you want a quad/hammy excercise..do walking lunges.
i do deadlifts and front squats for my leg work You're neglecting your hammies IMO - throw in SLDL's.
